The Holden Stormriders are an extreme driving team. Their vehicle of choice is the legendary SS Ute. The team runs four SS Utes and appears at shows throughout Australia. Their programme consists of driving on two wheels, launching their vehicles off ramps (gaining some serious air) and high speed precision driving.

In 2003, after thirty years supplying Australia’s legendary Precision Driving Team between 1969-1999, Holden returns as backers for 2003 following a three-year hiatus.


The team will now be known as ‘Holden Stormriders’ and feature Holden Utes at 23 metro and country shows around Australia next year. The popular precision drivers will display their skills in a fast-paced 15-minute presentation, which includes two-wheel driving, high-speed crossovers, formation driving and ramp-to-ramp car jumping.


"The Holden V8 Ute was a logical choice for this sponsorship," said Holden Light Commercial Marketing Manager Alan Blazevic. "It’s all about Holden heritage and being Australian."


"The Ute has perfect synergy with country and metro show attendees and the new VY model is creating plenty of interest with buyers. The cars will look great performing the team’s precision manoeuvres," he said.

Always a favourite at both the metro and country shows, the Holden ‘Stormriders’ have made 8,000-plus appearances since being formed by Lloyd Robertson in the late 1960s, performing in front of nearly 45,000,000 people in total. Developing the show from a basic precision driving routine to the choreographed spectacular seen today, only 25 drivers have qualified to be part of the team in its 35-year history.
